Position Summary
Minnkota Power Cooperative is seeking qualified applicants for a Buyer at our headquarters in Grand Forks, North Dakota. This position is responsible for the procurement of goods and services by processing requisitions, retrieving quotations, processing purchase orders, drafting/executing contracts and issuing change orders. It is the Buyer’s responsibility to source products from the best possible vendor. The Buyer must also sell or dispose of obsolete items through the best means available.
The salary range for this position begins at $62,570 per year. Appropriate pay will be determined based on a candidate's skills, education, and previous relevant experience.
Essential Responsibilities
- Processes requisitions and quotations
- Reviews descriptions of items and requisitions for completeness and accuracy
- Determines vendor sources available for the requirements and submits request for quotation
- Reviews all vendor quotations and works with requisitioner to clarify on questions and make any changes necessary
- Selects the best proposal based upon: satisfying technical requirements, price, availability, and terms
- Processes purchase orders and issues change orders
- Converts requisitions to purchase orders
- Inputs all information in to Minnkota's ERP system and PO file for documentation
- Prints and sends the PO to the applicable vendor and requires acknowledgement
- Completes change orders as required
- Sources products and vendors
- Searches for new suppliers
- Visits and interviews vendors to determine applicable products and services for Minnkota
- Maintains abilities and contacts of suppliers
- Sells or disposes of obsolete items
- Determines the best avenue for selling obsolete items and determines a price with the selling department's manager
- Drafts a release of liability and provides to purchaser for signatures
- Coordinates with the accounting department to issue invoices and collect payment
- Processes contracts for services
- Selects the vendor with the best value and abilities to perform contract requirements
- Reviews all contract attachments and insurance certificates to determine if they meet Minnkota requirements
- Carefully reviews terms and conditions and clarifies as needed
- Partners with other members of the Procurement team for review and approval when needed
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Preferred:
- Bachelors degree in Business or a related field
Experience
Preferred:
- 3 or more years of experience in a similar role
- Experience with procurement of goods and services with federal grants a plus
