Background/Need
Our client is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to expand and maintain a heterogeneous network of Linux, Windows, OS X, VMware platforms and computer driven test equipment in support of AI research and development systems and test beds.
The position is responsible for scoping, planning/designing, delivering and maintaining systems based on need/requirements of the group. The Systems Administrator will play an active role within the organization on a continuing basis and must be able to adapt and learn quickly. Attention to detail and completeness of work (e.g. documentation) will be expected. They will be called on for consultation and expertise in support of different projects, often with interesting and challenging computing constraints. Responsibilities will include providing technical support to users, provisioning new research systems, updating system configurations, solving user problems with application compatibility, installation, operating system upgrades and in general maintain a very heterogeneous and secure computing environment.
The Systems Administrator will also work with the Security Department (SSD) Information Systems Security Officers (ISSO) to assist in system compliance, issue detection, reporting and mitigation. They will assist in developing and maintaining systems. Support audit, maintenance and disposal in accordance with guidelines. The System Administrator will maintain configuration management and proper documentation. They will manage access to IT systems and ensures users are aware of their security responsibilities. They will conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with the SSPs. Will work special security issues and interact with Laboratory management as needed.
Work location: Hybrid - Individual works from home or off-site for a portion of their schedule and within a routinely commutable distance from the Lexington facility. Specifically, this position requires on-site availability with the option for remote work based on project assignment. Ideal candidates will be local to MIT LL Lexington, MA or relocate for assignment.
