MISC Products, Inc. is a small, privately owned company that specializes in high volume manufacturing of automotive, interior (soft trim) components. We are seeking a qualified individual to immediately fill the Machine Maintenance Technician position at our Macomb, MI location, reporting to the Engineering Supervisor. This is a full-time position currently open on NIGHT SHIFT (9:00p-5:30a).

Summary of Position with General Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate is a dynamic individual with disciplined and organized approach to troubleshooting, evaluation, and repair of equipment, with an eye for detail and a quality driven mindset. This person shall demonstrate the ability to work independently, be results oriented, and have an ability to complete and validate repairs/adjustments of equipment, tooling, and fixtures, in addition to other peripheral equipment. Additionally, being able to prioritize and execute general building maintenance, both preventative and improvement related, will be preferred.

The essential job functions of this position include:

Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform repairs to light industrial equipment (industrial sewing machines, ultrasonic welders, strip cutters, snap/grommet machines) and tooling in a timely manner, in order to minimize unscheduled down time.
  • Perform preventative maintenance according to set schedule(s).
  • Assist in the development of preventative maintenance activities and schedules.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of critical replacement parts.
  • Keep management advised of potential problem areas and recommend/implement solutions as appropriate.

Equipment Set-Up

  • Perform machine/tooling set-ups according to production needs.

Facilities Maintenance

  • Perform preventative facility maintenance according to set schedule(s).
  • Perform various repairs to facilities maintenance issues.
  • Keep management advised of potential problem areas and recommend/implement solutions as appropriate.

Required skills/background:

  • Light Industrial machine maintenance experience.
  • Ability to manage various tasks simultaneously, in a high volume and fast paced environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, with analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a team towards collective goals.

Preferred skills/background:

  • Comfortable with use of common shop tools, including but not limited to, mills, lathes, grinders, hand tools.
  • Familiar with industrial sewing equipment- i.e. Industrial sewing machines, Strip cutters, Ultrasonic Welders, Light Industrial Presses, etc.
  • Knowledge of low voltage (12/24v) PLCs, timers, relays and wiring, with an ability to troubleshoot and construct electrical solutions.
  • Ability to construct and troubleshoot various pneumatic controls.
  • Entry-level computer skills, including email, Internet research, and use of Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • General aptitude of electrical circuits (120/240v), plumbing, painting, fabrication, etc.

Experience in the duties listed above is preferred, but on-site training and mentorship will be considered for the right candidate in order to strengthen the existing skillset.

This is a fast-paced job, that requires attention and ability to think on your feet.
