Misericordia Heart of Mercy is a home to over 600 children and adults with mild to profound developmental disabilities. Misericordia offers a community of care that maximizes potential for persons with mild to profound developmental disabilities, many of whom are also physically challenged.
Our Social Services department is currently hiring for a Medical Records Insurance Coordinator.
The Medical Records/Insurance Coordinator is responsible for oversight and updating of all resident medical insurance information, reviewing the medical records system for the facility and coordination with other departments and for Medical Records management within the Social Service Department
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Work with Social Service Director to maintain medical record system throughout the campus. Train and oversee staff/volunteers, as needed.
2. Oversee medical records system for the facility. Develop and implement policies and procedures, as necessary. Conduct quality assurance checks.
3. Supervise Medical Records Clerk in the procedures of records processed for retention and for destruction per HIPAA guidelines, state requirements and facility policy.
4. Work in conjunction with offsite contracted record storage company for transfer and security of records to other locations. Keep current records of all files stored offsite or on campus in secured environment.
5. Coordinate, with Social Service Secretary, residential expansion in relationship to setting up new records and files within Social Service.
6. Coordinate and respond to all individual resident bills from any and all medical providers. Contact parents/guardians, as necessary.
7. Maintain insurance information in computer files and hardcopies in Insurance binders. Verify and update resident insurance information prior to all staffings. Generate “insurance information” form for staffings to be included with other consent forms. Update insurance information when notified of changes and send that information to nursing offices, social service coordinators and QIDPs.
8. Monitor and distribute copies of Medicare and Medicaid cards to all nursing offices on campus.
9. Generate reports, forms, letters, or input data, and faxes, as needed. Maintain confidentiality of records, reports, and resident information.
10. Perform other duties, as assigned.

Degree or some college experience

Some medical record experience preferred
