Posting Summary:
Mission Multiplier is looking for a Systems Administrator III to provide senior-level systems administration support for the IMPACT project at MSFC on our NASA AEGIS engagement. This position provides core support services for operating systems and administration tools for the Impact team at NSSTC in Huntsville, Alabama and applies fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments. Tasks include operating system upgrades and maintenance, patching/vulnerability corrective activities, server-side networking (VPN and Remote Desktop), permissions setting (NTFS, groups, shares), instance patching, server backups (physical and virtual servers), and maintaining security plans.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support of IMPACT project requirements with cloud and on-prem operating systems.
- Administration of Linux and/or Windows server instances.
- Provide support where needed on upcoming IMPACT projects, usually on site (at NSSTC facility).
- Systems support and after-hours level three trouble ticket support when required.
- Understanding and use of server patching tools for compliance.
- Installs, configures, and maintains operating system (OS) workstations and servers, including virtual, cloud, and web servers, in support of business processing requirements.
- Performs software installations and upgrades to OS and layered software packages.
- Schedules installations and upgrades with established IT policies and procedures.
- Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
- Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
- Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
- Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services.
- Develops and promotes standard operating procedures.
- Conducts routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies and configuration guidelines.
- Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a B.S./B.A. in IT or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust security clearance.
- Knowledge/experience in system administration of Linux and/or Windows-based servers.
- Experience in Operating System (OS) patching and hardening Amazon Web Services (AWS) architecture and implementation.
- Ability to automate processes by writing code using Terraform or a similar product.
- Understanding of multi-cloud concepts.
- Ability to interact with other team members.
