JOB TITLE: Psychological Service Coordinator (Psychometrist)
LOCATION: Yazoo City Central Region
SALARY: $50,000-$75,000
WORK DAYS: 230 Day - 12 months
REPORT TO: Director of Special Education
FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of the Special Education Director, the candidate will be responsible for administering and scoring of psychological test batteries evaluating cognitive, academic, psycho- educational, and behavioral status, in order to assist the School Psychologists and other special education personnel in the Child Find process. The candidate will also administer standardized testing appropriate to determine school placement, disability categories, and other Child Find decisions.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned.
- Administer and score psychological tests as defined by Mississippi Department of Education (MDE).
- Provide a written summary of the student’s behavior during testing, including any interactions with the student’s parents or peers that may be observed incidentally.
- Ensures that students referred to the department for testing are seen in a timely manner.
- Discuss progress of students with other health professionals; keep school psychologist informed of their status.
- Write progress notes in the student record to keep special education personnel informed of the status of referrals.
- Assist with special groups such gifted testing, speech screeners, early intervention, and head start testing.
- Attend training conferences offered by the department as well as by outside organizations.
- Review and ensure timeliness, accuracy, and availability and security of information.
- Process referrals, perform observations, and administer evaluation instruments to individual students.
- Interpret, analyze, evaluate, document, track, and report result of observations and assessments.
- Assist in the Multi- Tiered System of Supports as a team member
- Maintain accurate records and other required data, prepare, and submit reports in a timely manner.
- Understand current issues, laws and regulations regarding psychological services, special education, special education trends, and other issues related to children with special education needs.
- Consult and collaborate with educational staff regarding students with behavioral, cognitive, and learning difficulties, in accordance with all directives, standards, procedures, policies, laws, rules, regulations, codes, and guidelines.
- Conduct other duties as required by the Special Education Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A valid Mississippi Department of Education License with a Psychometrist Endorsement (213).
- A minimum of a master’s degree from an accredited institute of Higher Learning.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to foster positive working relationships.
- Must be able to interact with stakeholders at all levels (including staff, parents, students, and community members) in a respectful manner and provide excellent customer service.
- Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Must have a working knowledge in using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint (pages, numbers, or keynote if using Apple/ MAC products).
- Must have strong organizational, problem- solving, and time- management skills.
- Must be able to travel between schools and the central office as required as a condition of employment.
