LEAD LIFEGUARD

Overview

Responsible for ensuring effective performance of all lifeguards. As well as enforce regulations in the guarding of life and the prevention of accidents at the park.  Responsible for greeting customers in a courteous, friendly manner, and display a high standard of customer service.

Adhere to any and all company and departmental policies, practices and procedures.

Contribute to a safe work environment, through compliance with established safety guidelines, identifying potential safety hazards, and reporting same to the appropriate person for proper resolution.

Maintain a professional departmental, company and community reputation.

Responsibilities

• Follow all rules, regulations, policies and procedures for the property area and assist in protecting and safeguarding all property assets.
• Must be able to comply with all National Aquatic Safety Company (NASCO) standards.
• Ensure all rides are being operated properly as outlined under departmental SOPs.
• Facilitates the flow of information, by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings.
• Position water safety staff at the beginning of their shift.
• Ensure Medical equipment is in its proper location, and that the backboards are functioning properly.
• Supervise all ride testing.
• Maintain lifejacket stands daily.                                             
• Maintains a working knowledge of facilities/outlets and special and upcoming events on property, in order to advise customers of same, whenever possible.
• Leads by setting a positive example to all Associates.
• Communicates important, relevant information to following shift.
• Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.

AGE and GAMING:

18 years of age or above.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or GED is preferred. Must have been a Deep Water Lifeguard for a minimum of 1 year.

TESTING:

Swim Test: (Must be able to swim 200 yards continuously). (Must be able to retrieve a ten pound brick from 4 feet of water). Must complete and pass Lifeguard Training taught by the NASCO instructors at the Park.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees and one on one.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Essential responsibilities include physical ability such as lift or maneuver at least fifty (50) pounds, and standing/walking 90% of the shift. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb, reach, twist, and grip throughout shift.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an Associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

This position is required to work outside in direct weather conditions and may perform responsibilities and/or essential functions on slippery or wet surfaces as well as exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme weather/heat.

Due to the unpredictable nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, Associates must be able to work varying-schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.
