Job Duties
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Assists in curriculum development and instructional advancement in the field of nursing for both PN and ADN options 2. Assesses the instructional needs of students and helps coordinate the development of a plan to address those needs. 3. Teaches courses as assigned; determined by need and/or expertise. 4. Utilizes assessment and effective methodologies of instruction, as deemed appropriate, for the enhancement of active learning. 5. Integrates theory and didactics with active learning strategies and clinical guidance 6. Maintains expertise in the field of study and teaching pedagogy by attending seminars, workshops, classes, and conferences for self-improvement and/or professional enhancement 7. Maintains active participation in professional organizations as appropriate. 8. Supports college activities, including course and career guidance, mentoring, graduation, Pinning, and conventions 9. Maintains communication and works cooperatively with allied health, adjunct, and clinical faculty across the district and at off-campus instructional and clinical sites. 10. Maintains appropriate records, forms, and performances as instructed by programmatic and college wide policies 11. Assists with the planning, coordinating, and implementation of alternative health science offerings like dual Credit and Non-credit Continuing Education classes. 12. Assists in the annual core curriculum evaluations of the program, assessment of institutional effectiveness and preparation of reports. 13. Serves on institutional committees as assigned by the College’s Administrative Team 14. Works collaboratively and effectively as a team in the overall learning environment 15. Completes instructor training/orientation modules satisfactorily within the specified timeframe. 16. Supervises students, preceptors, and adjunct faculty in various off campus clinical facilities. 17. Attends and participates in monthly faculty meetings and in annual community meetings as guided by the Nursing Department Chair. 18. Performs other specific duties as assigned by the Nursing Department Chair and Associate Vice President of Health Sciences.

Job Description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION: A nursing faculty member is directly responsible and accountable for ensuring the fulfillment of educational goals and objectives of the Nursing Program, and ensuring program compliance according to state and national regulatory agencies. Faculty responsibilities require leadership in both academic and technical areas and include meeting student retention goals; participating in educational planning; evaluating student performance; motivating and advising students; and generating program reports as needed. Based on the broad range of responsibilities and the need to be available to students and others, the annual assignment will involve didactic (theory), clinical/lab, or a combination of duties and responsibilities. The individual that serves in this position represent the practical, associate, or both options with a full-time, 10-month faculty contract, with a requirement to be available during summer semesters, as determined by program administrators. Depending on the annual assignment, the nursing faculty member reports to the Year I or Year II Course Coordinator.

Mandatory Qualifications
MANDATORY: (M1) Conferred MSN from a regionally accredited institute of higher learning. (M2) Unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Mississippi or capable of obtaining such license before employment. (M3) Must obtain a current criminal background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with Mississippi Law (HB 1077). (M4) Minimum of one year of clinical experience with demonstrated competency. (M5) Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. (M6) Familiarity with basic internet, e-mail, and word processing functions.

Desirable Qualifications
DESIRABLE: (D1) Clinical experience in Maternal Child, Mental Health and/or Adult Health nursing education or clinical/skills performance. (D2) Community college and/or college-level and/or military teaching experience. (D3) Multi-media and/or online instructional delivery experience (D4) Two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years as an RN in a clinical setting or as an instructor in a similar program with responsibilities for clinical/campus laboratory management duties, teaching basic and/or advanced nursing skills and the direct supervision of students in a clinical setting.
