JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
This position coordinates the loaning and borrowing of materials from other libraries, using both Interlibrary Loan and MOBIUS. This position works in the circulation department with assigned desk hours, and shelving areas, performing other routine tasks as assigned.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Requests interlibrary loan materials from other libraries for Missouri River Regional Library (MRRL) patrons.
Fills requests from other libraries for interlibrary loan of materials available through the MRRL collection.
Processes interlibrary loan materials when they arrive at MRRL by updating the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC); creates an item record for each item and checks them out to our patrons; notified patrons that requested materials are available and the time frame they will be held; shelves interlibrary loan materials on the holds shelving.
Checks in all interlibrary loan materials returned to MRRL.
Coordinates the processing, pulling of books, transportation and returning of borrowed MOBIUS materials.
Staffs circulation desk and performs circulation functions, including checking materials in and out, issuing library cards, renewing checked out materials, retrieving materials for patrons, and collecting fines. Operates cash register and credit card machine for all money transactions.
Assists in shelving and filing of materials.
Maintains order and cleanliness of the department.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Answers the main library telephone and assists patrons by taking messages, renewing library materials for patrons, or transferring calls to appropriate departments or individuals.
Assists with counting out the register drawer as needed.
Assists with closing the library as needed.
Participates in department and library meetings, and programs.
May work assigned shifts at other public service desks.
Serves on committees as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, cash register, photocopiers, etc.

- Will operate a computer for most of the work time.
- Frequent bending, lifting, reaching and stooping to select and shelve library materials.
- Lifting and carrying, 25 pounds or less.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Generally 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend hours. This position will participate in the scheduled weekend work rotation.
Education/Experience
High school diploma or GED.
Previous library experience helpful.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
High degree of customer services skills to work with patrons of all ages, including special needs patrons and library staff.
