We are seeking a talented Graphic Designer to join our university's creative services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating visually stunning and effective designs for various print, environmental, and other mediums. The Graphic Designer will collaborate closely with university stakeholders to develop compelling visual materials that align with the university's brand identity and strategic goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and produce a wide range of visually appealing materials, including brochures, flyers, posters, banners, signage, newsletters, digital graphics, and other promotional collateral for student recruitment, university advancement, and academic departments.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including marketing and communications teams, university advancement officers, and academic department representatives, to understand their objectives and develop design concepts that effectively communicate key messages.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the university's brand guidelines, ensuring all designs adhere to established standards and effectively reflect S&T's visual identity.
  • Create and edit graphics, illustrations, and images while employing creative and innovative techniques to engage and captivate the target audience.
  • Stay informed about current design trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices, and apply this knowledge to enhance the quality and effectiveness of design deliverables.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met while maintaining a high standard of quality.
  • Collaborate with external vendors, such as printers and photographers, to ensure the successful production and delivery of materials.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of a comprehensive visual asset library, ensuring that all design files are organized and easily accessible for future use.
  • Provide guidance and support to other team members and stakeholders on design-related matters, promoting a collaborative and creative environment.

Minimum Qualifications


A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a graphic designer, preferably in a higher education or agency setting.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of print and digital design work.
  • Proficient in industry-standard design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Excellent understanding of typography, layout, color theory, and other design principles.
  • Strong conceptual and creative thinking abilities, with the ability to translate ideas into visually compelling designs.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present and articulate design concepts to stakeholders.
  • Experience working with printers and other external vendors to ensure the successful production of design materials.
