Transportation Assistant
Job Summary: The Transportation Assistant will manage day to day activities for inbound and outbound freight to include tendering of all modes of freight (Truckload, LTL & Intermodal) to effectively manage the quality, cost and service provided by the carriers.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist with logistic issues and be able to communicate those issues to carriers and internal customer service as required.
· Provides customer service team with carrier updates.
· Replies to incoming email which includes carrier availability, shipment status, and delivery ETA.
· Complete daily reporting of dispatch activity
· Actively supports all safety policies and procedures.
· Provides support and backup for Transportation Manager as needed
Requirements
· 2 years of transportation experience preferred
· High School diploma or GED
· Experience with food grade shipping preferred.
· Able to work Monday- Friday from 8am-5pm and available via cell phone outside of work hours.
· Must be able to multi task and work in a fast-paced environment.
· Sound judgment, initiative and professional communication skills
· Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize workload.
· Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
· Self-starter and motivated to achieve.
· Comfortable with computer and multiple applications
· Proficient in MS Office Suite
· Experience with TMS is helpful
