We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Regional Safety Manager, located in Houston, Texas. This position reports directly to the Director of Global Environmental Health and Safety. Job Responsibilities & Requirements Under the direction of the Safety Director, the regional safety manager will be responsible for the following: Compiles and keeps all required work site safety records, safety manuals, SDS and accident forms that are required by contract, insurance companies and relevant governing agencies. Conducts regular on-site inspections of active manufacturing facilities, warehouses and offices. Observes workplace conditions and makes necessary recommendation for corrective actions regarding health and safety. Enforces safety policy and procedure and administers requires corrective action when necessary. Submits daily, weekly and monthly reports. Oversees and works with regional area Plant Managers and Safety Coordinators to record weekly safety meetings. Attends when available to give feedback and presentations. Reviews and investigates accidents, incidents or serious injuries occurring and notify the Safety Director and management of pertinent details. Carefully analyze reports from accident investigations to ascertain root cause and corrective action needed. Reviews and discusses insurance inspectors' periodic reports. Reviews and recommends continued training of employees in safe and efficient work methods. Assists employees to understand OSHA regulations and standards, including guidance on handling OSHA compliance, inspections, and citations. Coordinates with the Safety Director and safety personnel as it pertains to worker’s compensation and other safety issues. Communicate and manage claims with corporate safety personnel with focus on early Return to Work efforts. Evaluates hazardous conditions and practices and develops hazard control practices and programs. Guides and assists plant personnel to ascertain critical safety issues and health problems. Assesses new developments in the health and safety field that may have application to the company's operations and make recommendations to the Safety Director. Keeps apprised of developments in federal, state and city safety laws likely to affect the company. Works with the Plant Managers, Safety Coordinators and Corporate Safety Director to protect company interests as it relates to environmental health, workplace safety and risk management. Other duties as assigned related to environmental health and safety and worker’s compensation. Work performed in the field at various operating sites, as well as in an office environment. POSITION QUALIFICATION SKILLS & ABILITIES Education: Bachelor Degree or experience in lieu of CHST, OHST, ASP or CSP certifications preferred Current OSHA 30 General Industry certificate required Current OSHA 511 and 501 certificates preferred Experience: Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, fire and life-safety codes, and other regulatory agencies. Prior experience working in a manufacturing setting as a Safety Manager or Consultant. Computer Skills: Experienced with MS Office programs. Other Requirements: Position requires maturity, confidentiality, and the ability to interface with various departments and individuals. Must be flexible and able to work independently and as part of a team, as workflows dictate. Ability to develop procedures and training tools for increased efficiency. WORK ENVIRONMENT Duties will be performed at active manufacturing facilities, as well as a standard office environment. Travel up to 70% will be required.
