MK Search is currently partnered with a medium-sized specialty chemical manufacturer located in Houston, Texas.
They are seeking an experienced Finance Director with a background in the chemical industry to lead their financial operations and support strategic growth initiatives.
Position Overview: The Finance Director will oversee all financial activities, provide strategic guidance, and ensure the financial health of the organization. The successful candidate will have a strong background in finance within the chemical industry and proven experience managing a team. This role is critical in driving financial performance, optimizing resource allocation, and supporting the company’s long-term objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership:
- Provide strategic financial leadership and direction to the company.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Advise the GM and senior management team on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, and investment priorities.
Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of four finance professionals.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the finance team.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Oversee the preparation of financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and manage the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads.
- Monitor and report on budget performance, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial forecasts to guide business planning.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and accounting standards.
- Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, implementing appropriate risk management strategies.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present financial statements, management reports, and other financial analyses to the board of directors and stakeholders.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting and disclosures.
- Coordinate with external auditors and manage the annual audit process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of finance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the chemical industry.
- Strong knowledge of financial management principles, practices, and regulations.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
