Department: Social Services Shift: Primarily Days (United States of America) Type: Minimum Pay Range $31.05 - $37.75 Job Description POSITION SUMMARY The Chaplain provides pastoral care to patients, their family members and employees for Marshall Medical Center (MMC) in both inpatient as well as home care settings. Offers spiritual support and coordinates crisis intervention coverage 24 hours a day. Provides counseling to patients undergoing surgical procedures, facing end of life issues, those involved in traumatic accidents and/or as requested. Offers comfort, spiritual guidance and support to patients' families, fellow staff members and care providers. Maintains the Volunteer Chaplain Program coordinating volunteer training, schedules and visit records. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education/Licensure/Certification: Master’s Degree in Theological or Religious Studies from The Association of Theological Schools (ATS) accredited seminary required. Four units Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) from an ACPE certified program required. Previous hospital chaplain experience preferred. *Must meet all DMV requirements. Knowledge: Basic understanding of medical diagnoses required. Knowledge of crisis theory, family systems theory, and grief theory preferred. Awareness in diversity of cultures and religions, and how they interact with medical preferences and needs preferred. Skills: Ability to successfully work as part of an interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and ensure patient needs are met while remaining flexible, open, and self-reflective. Possess strong oral and written communication skills to communicate spiritual assessments and patient needs in person and through electronic documentation. Must be able to self-supervise and determine spiritual care needs within the hospital, triaging critical needs. Must be able to determine appropriate working hours based on the needs of the patients, medical staff, and employees. *Note: Requires employees to drive at least once per pay period. Candidates must possess and supply proof of: a current CA Driver’s License, a clean DMV printout and Auto Insurance coverage with a minimum of $50,000 per person/$100,000 per occurrence (or a combined single limit of $100,000) and property damage coverage in an amount not less than $50,000 per occurrence.
