Summary of Position
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for post molding solutions development and interface with all functional areas of MMI. Additionally implement manufacturing systems and standards that will produce industry leading quality products. Ensure new launch products are ready for production launch and that current manufacturing issues are resolved in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
The Manufacturing Engineer is part of a development rotation within MMI in which engineers have the opportunity to further develop their knowledge and experience with Manufacturing, Application, and Quality Engineering as well as gaining valuable Operational experience.
Essential Functions
- Supports quotation development to include post mold tooling, assembly equipment and fixtures, and quality fixtures and gauges for manufacturability.
- Recommends and completes purchase or build of secondary tooling, fixtures and/or equipment.
- Build/Modify equipment and fixtures.
- Ensures Safety, Ergonomics, and Environmental Standards are followed.
- Ensures production readiness and verifies capability runs.
- Develops assembly automation, including robot utilization and integration.
- Coordinates and supports preproduction build events.
- Leads and supports meetings for product development and manufacturing concerns.
- Develop and maintain Process flow.
- Develop and maintain PFMEAs/RPN reductions.
- Develop standard work and work instructions while working closely with supervisor and operator input.
- Sets up and maintains timelines for tracking new equipment.
- Manage programs cradle to grave on manufacturing plant side.
- Manages and completes equipment issues with an open issues list.
- Verify process meets flow charts and process layouts.
- Completes and verifies PM instructions for assembly equipment.
- Lead launch review meetings.
- Packaging development, testing and approval.
- Investigates Engineering Change Feasibility.
- Works closely with other departments to ensure quality on time products
- Follow ISO 14001 and TS 16949 requirements.
- All other duties as assigned.
Responsibility for Quality
- Responsible for establishing the setup and part production processes to ensure maximum efficiency and world class quality beginning at sample assessment.
- Responsible for control plans, PFMEA's and Work instructions all of which have the potential of impacting product quality.
- Responsible for following design standards to ensure quality is integral to all product or mold designs.
- Responsible for management of all aspects of product development to ensure first article meets/exceeds quality standards and customer approval is achieved.
Qualifications
- BS in an Engineering discipline.
- Leadership mentality.
- 2D and 3D CAD experience not necessary but preferred.
- Hands on mechanical experience preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret blueprints, equipment manuals, technical reports, and other related material.
- Ability to write manufacturing procedures, work instructions, documents, forms.
- Strong Computer skills-Windows
- Ability to present to groups and in meetings.
- Knowledge of complex application of FEA, MFA, and GD&T
- Mechanical engineering knowledge.
