JOB DESCRIPTION – Braider
Location: Grand Rapids, MN
Job Type: Full time
Reports to: Braid Department Manager & Production Manager
Summary:
- The Braid Machine Operator will run the braiding machine to make braided sleeving. The Braid Machine Operator must stay in constant communication with the Supervisor or Lead to stay current with the build schedules needed to satisfy customer deadlines. The Braider will perform his or her duties in accordance with safety and ISO procedures and quality standards.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Set up, monitor, operate and adjust the braiding machine(s). Read instructions, procedures, and safety data.
- Load and unload the braiding machine.
- Verify Correct Branches.
- Insert harness into braid machine to create braided sleeving.
- Inspect quality of workmanship.
- Tag and report (CA/NC) to the Manager/Supervisor any harnesses that have sustained damage during the braiding process and hang harness on repair rack to isolate.
- Sign out product in the ERP system.
- Perform daily and weekly machine maintenance, including oil, lubrication, and cleaning.
- Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- In addition to the above, the duties of this position include such other responsibilities and tasks that may be assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Previous Experience:
- 6 months of experience preferred in a manufacturing setting, but not required.
Minimum Additional Training:
- OTJ training will be provided.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting wage is $17.00/hour.

Work Schedule:
- Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
- Overtime hours are available.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read & interpret documents including but not limited to technical specifications of components, schematics, data sheets, etc.
- Must possess the interpersonal communication skills needed to work with other teams or production areas.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions written, oral and/or diagram form.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Physical Demands:
- The employee is required to stand, bend, stoop, and lift for 90% of the day.
- The employee continuously uses hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- The employee reaches with hands and arms above height level.
- The employee frequently is required to walk.
- The employee must frequently lift, hold, and/or move up to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds with two hands.
- The employee will engage in repetitive, forceful hand, wrist, ankle, and knee exertions.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is high, so hearing protection is required.
- To ensure safety, no loose clothing or jewelry is allowed.
