Modern Hydrogen has an immediate opening for an Engineering Manager. In this role, you will lead a team as a line manager on complex engineering projects that integrate mechanical design, assembly, fabrication, controls, and process engineering. You will report to our Director of Engineering.
This is an onsite role. The Engineering Manager will be required to work on-site in our facility in Woodinville, WA 3 days per week and attend monthly company events in the Seattle area. These events are geared towards fostering connections between colleagues, building a strong team, and having fun together.
Modern Hydrogen is a Seattle-based cleantech startup. We decarbonize natural gas into clean hydrogen at the point of use. Responsibilities:
Drive industrial, mechanical, and chemical process hardware engineering projects from requirements through design, build, and test, including managing project scoping, project schedules, reporting, removing roadblocks, and keeping engineering processes running smoothly.
Drive design-build-test iterations to resolve hardware issues.
Provide leadership, supervision, motivation, and development to a team of engineers and technicians spanning chemical, mechanical, electrical, controls, process, and test engineering.
Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, designs, processes, and budgets.
Some travel may be required (up to 5-10%).
Other duties as assigned.
Who are you? You should have:
8 years of engineering experience in an industrial setting, ideally in an energy or industrial hardware company
3 years of industrial hardware engineering management and project management experience
Strong technical background with knowledge of industry best practices in mechanical engineering, controls engineering, mechatronics, industrial engineering, and/or chemical engineering
Experience designing, building, and testing new types of energy or complex industrial hardware products at the interface of thermal, mechanical, controls, and electrical technology, such as fuel cells, engines, chemical process skids or plants, electrolyzers, industrial boilers, large tooling, industrial furnaces or mills, large-scale machines/equipment, or similar
NPD experience

A strong drive to create organization and clarity of accountability
A mix of work experience at a big company and at a hardware startup company, so you can leverage the best of both worlds
Clear communication - verbal, written, and presentation

Salary range is $100,000 - $150,000/year.
