Job Posting for Associate Director, Ethics and Compliance at Moderna

The Role:

As our Communications and Learning Platform Lead, you'll create and manage our global compliance and privacy communication platform, to serve as a central hub for corporate policies, SOPs, compliance trainings, tools, and communication plans. This global role requires excellent collaboration and communication skills. You will work closely with team members (both US and outside the US (OUS)) to ensure our policies, SOPs, and training programs are consistent with global and local requirements. You will also have the unique opportunity to provide vital support to our US compliance organization under the supervision of our Head of US Ethics & Compliance Leader.

We're looking for an innovative thinker who can transform traditional compliance and privacy communications and training into engaging, story-based content that enhances understanding and retention.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Create our Global communication and training platform:

    • Lead the development and upkeep of our integrated compliance communication and training platform, serving as a one-stop-shop for corporate policies, SOPs, compliance and privacy trainings, tools, and communication plans.

    • Identify needs and expectations for the corporate policy framework across our global operations.

    • Transition our existing SOPs into principles-based, corporate policies with guidance to ensure consistency across all locations.

    • Encourage the use of story-based compliance information to further develop procedural documents.

    • Measure policy message success via feedback gathering methods, usage metrics, and collaboration with the Global Compliance Monitoring and Investigations team.

  • Global Development of Training and Communication Plans:

    • Partner with Learning Management to rethink the traditional policy/training assignment model, leveraging digital technologies to provide narrative-based learning.

    • Continuously evolve our policies and SOPs framework to adjust for potential risks and business goals, ensuring we maintain a proactive stance in our compliance efforts.

    • Collaborate with the Global Compliance Monitoring & Investigations team to ensure visibility into which narratives and techniques yield the most improved results.

    • Drive continuous improvement in policy training, shifting from training assignment and reminders to engaging, story-based content that enhances understanding and retention.

  • Support Ethics & Compliance in the US:

    • Implement and maintain the ethics & compliance program in the US, ensuring policy adherence, escalating issues, and promoting ethical behavior.

    • Work with US teams to create and deliver targeted training and resources to enforce ethics & compliance guidance.

    • Stay updated on compliance risks and trends relevant to US activities.

    • Manage compliance program requirements and submissions for US federal and state levels, including liaising for information collection and filings.

    • Use digital tools to create measurable metrics and periodic reports on the US ethics & compliance program status.

    • Additional duties may be assigned from time to time.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • 5 years of diversified biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience

  • Proven ability to interact collaboratively, yet objectively with all levels of management.

  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish trust and credibility across functions and geographies.

  • Proven experience in building new reporting, training, and communication capabilities.

  • Proficient in leveraging digital capabilities to develop measurable metrics and prepare periodic reports.

  • Solid knowledge of compliance program frameworks.

  • Experience with US healthcare compliance in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Proven ability to transform traditional compliance training into engaging, story-based content.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing ethics & compliance programmatic and tactical deliverables.

  • Experience in supporting transparency and individual state compliance requirements.

  • Working knowledge of major business processes and compliance/risk issues related to the bio-pharmaceutical industry.

  • Advanced degree in a related field such as Business Administration, Data Science, or Regulatory Affairs.

  • Experience with Global healthcare compliance in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
