What are the responsibilities and job description for the EHS Manager position at Moderna?
The Role:
Reporting to the EHS Site Director, this role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day EHS operations at the Moderna facility in Norwood, MA. The candidate will play a key role in managing EHS events, conducting investigations, implementing CAPA, and maintaining compliance with various EHS programs under the guidance of the site EHS leadership.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
Environmental Health and Safety Activities:
Assist in assessing and managing EHS risks associated with the technical development and manufacturing operations.
Support the implementation of technical standards and SOP’s for environmental, health, and safety topics.
Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies.
Assist in maintaining the site's legal register and compliance calendar activities.
Support the implementation of management of change processes that track changes to operations or legal/other requirements that may impact environmental/ biosafety compliance.
Participate in the review of capital projects for manufacturing operations, include corporate EHS SMEs as needed.
Work closely with manufacturing and technical development leadership to improve their competence/capability in EHS topics and their ability to support the EHS programs on-site.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental health, and safety or related science field.
8-12 years EHS experience within a biopharmaceutical manufacturing or R&D organization.
Competence and experience managing environmental programs (i.e., air emissions, wastewater, hazardous waste, sustainability)
Experiencing utilizing EHS management tools and performing accident investigations.
Experience with deployment of ISO14001 and ISO45001 management systems.
Expertise in developing clear, concise, and effective procedures and standards.
Demonstrated ability to deliver solutions in a rapidly changing environment, one that is growing quickly and adapting to new/changing conditions.
Comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment with limited direction and able to pivot to adjust workload or work style based upon business needs.
Strong team building skills / effective interpersonal communication skills are needed in this role to drive collaboration and adoption by the various teams across the company.
EHS certification highly desirable.
Industrial hygiene or biosafety expertise a plus.
