Title: Reliability Lab Supervisor
In this role, you will not only be responsible for managing your team of test engineers and lab technicians, but also for hands-on sample preparation, inspection, troubleshooting, data analysis, root cause failure analysis, and evaluation of various interconnect and electronic solutions throughout the product development cycle. Responsibilities
• Supervise the Sample Prep team with regards to preparation, inspection, and testing of electronic components, connector solutions, and materials
• Responsible for direct reports: coaching, employee development, performance appraisals, hiring, compensation decisions, etc.
• Manage people and equipment resources for the following tasks performed in accordance with various industry, customer, and/or internal specifications: sample identification & labeling, specimen assembly, hand soldering, SMT convection reflow, selective soldering, visual examination, dimensional inspection, temperature rise preparation, cross sectioning, porosity, fiber optic testing, etc.
• Hold daily team meetings to review team tasks and project activities, make assignments, and resolve priority issues
• Champion process improvement activities in the Sample Prep team
• Foster team work to execute projects and tasks that are high quality, accurate, on time, cost effective, and conducted in a safe manner
• Collect, utilize, and share operational metrics to evaluate team performance and ensure continual improvement
• Lead and drive 8D issues involving the team to completion
• Collaborate and provide support to Product Engineering, the Project Leader team, and external customers to address questions on test plan development and/or test results
• Develop, modify, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and training documents to ensure proper test execution with test methods that are repeatable and reproducible
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or Science
• 5 years' experience in a laboratory environment or related field
• 1 years' direct supervision experience
• Project management experience from execution to completion of several simultaneous projects simultaneously
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely and author engineering reports
• Possess critical thinking and analytical ability to develop conclusions from complex data including multiple interactions.
• Good interpersonal skills to work with others effectively including global contact
• Proficient with general test equipment and tools (i.e., microscopes, imaging systems, multimeters, hand soldering, wire preparation, etc.)
Preferred
• Work experience in automotive industry validation laboratory environment
• Knowledge of contact physics
• Knowledge of IPC 610 solder joint inspection
• Knowledge of passive fiber optic testing and equipment
• Knowledge of various soldering techniques (i.e. hand, convection reflow, wave, and selective)
• Troubleshooting skills of interconnect systems and electronic solutions to aid in root cause failure analysis
