Inventory Manager

ModVans
Sparks, NV Full Time
POSTED ON 4/2/2024 CLOSED ON 8/5/2024

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Manager position at ModVans?

ModVans is searching for a smart, hard working, organized, and experienced inventory manager. You will use our MRP system and manufacturing schedule to plan and place orders for our inventory of supplies and parts ordered from a large and diverse set of vendors. When orders arrive, you will manage how it is received, inspected and stored, including maintaining documentation in the MRP. As the inventory is used or transferred, you will manage keeping the MRP system updated. Twice a year, you will manage physical inventory counts. You will be expected to define, maintain and refine our processes using high levels of automation. You will report directly to our COO.

This position requires a high amount of organization and computer skills. Your interview will include a significant skills based test. Do not apply for this position if you cannot:

  • Use a MRP production schedule and multi-level bills of materials to create purchase orders
  • Know what documentation is required to be maintained for manufacturing accounting.
  • Know the steps that inventory goes through for vertically integrated manufacturing.
  • How to manage inventory in pallet racks, bins, etc.
  • How to ship items as packages and LTL freight.

ModVans is a fun, exciting and rapidly growing company that offers opportunities for advancement and reward, including stock incentives. The greater your contribution, the greater your reward!

ModVans designs and manufactures high-tech, multipurpose vehicles with camping features and sells direct to consumers via our website, www.modvans.com.

Our award-winning and unique vehicles feature the largest available lithium batteries of any RV and the most technologically advanced RV systems and controls. Launched in 2017, we have achieved great things in a few very intense years. You can learn more about these achievements at https://www.modvans.com/news.

We recently moved into a 30,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in beautiful Sparks, NV. We are excited about expanding our production and we are looking for a smart, skilled, and experienced Scheduler and Manager to help us grow fast!

This role is not for somebody new to inventory management. We want somebody with a track record that demonstrates all of these abilities:

  • Manage 10 or more employees with diverse skills and responsibilities
  • Work with a large and complex supply chain and assembly process
  • Identify and creatively solve issues causing slow or low quality production, engaging with other teams as needed
  • Hire and train employees

We have engineers, production employees with experience, supply chains in place, and multiple completed vehicles of each model, so you won’t be jumping into something undefined. However, we are interested in your input to define our inventory management processes, so you will have both the freedom and responsibility to define and implement your preferred processes. We will teach you about high tech vans and you will teach us how to effectively manage vertically integrated manufacturing inventory.

If you've read this far and you are still thinking "this sounds amazing!" and "I'm a perfect fit!", there are a few things you can do to help us find each other:

  • Submit your resume in PDF form. PDF works better than doc(x) on Indeed. With your skills as a manager, we expect you to be able to read and follow basic instructions and know (or figure out) the difference between Word documents and PDF, so don't get this wrong.
  • Answer all the Indeed questions, including the ones about relevant experience and interest in the work. Yes, we know this is annoying, but we get resumes all day long from people that just want a job, and that is not what we are looking for. We want people who care deeply about their work. Your hobbies and interests are strong indicators (and also an opportunity to demonstrate your excellent communication skills).
  • If you do not have any relevant work experience in management of inventory (more than counting or moving inventory), please do not apply for this position. Instead, apply for one of our intern positions (when available) so you can discover your passion in a role with fewer responsibilities.

Failure to follow the above guidelines will result in your application being automatically rejected.

A few of the things you'll be doing:

  • Working with engineering to design bills of materials (BOMs) and forecast and establish inventory requirements for parts, supplies and tools
  • Finding and negotiating with vendors to set purchase terms
  • Maintaining BOMs and purchase terms in our Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) system
  • Managing physical inventory
  • Managing receiving and shipping

Inventory Manager is a paid, full time position with benefits such as paid-time off, health insurance and stock options.

Respond to this post with a resume and any other background info (workplace success stories, hobbies, clubs, projects, etc.) that demonstrates your ability and interest in this role.

Your interview will be a working interview that may include a visit to our shop floor. Please dress accordingly.

If asked to interview, bring 2 copies of your resume.
