Job Description

The Manager of Product Development Systems is responsible for executing the strategic vision and providing technical leadership for Global Product Development systems and associated processes. They will lead the implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of systems and process capability required to reach the new product portion of Fortune Brands Innovations' (FBIN) growth targets.

The scope of work includes Project & Portfolio Management (PPM), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), SharePoint, QlikView, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and systems enabling financial reporting as applicable to Product Development platforms and the associated infrastructure. Through a combination of targeted technology utilization, greater system integration, and process improvements, Product Development will realize substantial improvements in speed, efficiency and effectiveness across core systems and processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Lead the development and execution of portfolio management and project management system improvements that drive greater efficiencies and leverage our global scale to achieve industry-leading results, including improvements to eliminate waste, improve Product Development productivity, and incremental changes to continuously improve speed to market.
  • Lead Product Development in determining what portfolio management, project management, product lifecycle management and analytics improvements are required to drive the achievement of BU strategic and business objectives. Proactively identify the impact of potential process changes, integrate new initiatives with existing processes, and ensure that all processes are consistent and fit together.
  • Lead development and execution of cross-functional system improvements as it applies to Product Development related organizations.
  • Deliver actionable insights based upon key portfolio metric trends, and accountable for assuring global process discipline. Lead the creation and implementation of reports, dashboards and other analytics that will help the Product Development organization make insightful decisions about people, processes, and projects.
  • Facilitate and guide the strategic decision-making processes by defining, monitoring, and reporting key metrics; continue to evolve key metrics as business strategies and objectives evolve. Lead the generation of solutions to complex business problems by mining data and reports to yield relevant, actionable insights.
  • Responsible for technical leadership within PLM, ERP and engineering change control to seamlessly convey product engineering information and bills of material into manufacturing and suppliers.
  • In collaboration with IT, Business Units and Manufacturing Operations, establish the future looking system technology roadmap to enable necessary global integration across FBIN. Provide technical subject-matter-expertise in the evaluation technology changes that may advance capability.
  • Lead the development, improvement and implementation of global system standards, procedures, and best-practice across Product Development.
  • Work with IT and established third party software vendors to communicate, test and deploy necessary configuration changes to software (upgrades). Provide software implementation and support, including, but not limited to, MS Project Online, MS Power Platform, SharePoint, Nintex, QlikView, SQL, PLM tools and others.
  • Provide necessary change management documentation to IT when change or maintenance is needed in software tools to support Product Development processes.
  • Attract, develop, and retain talent needed to successfully execute product configuration management control and the production of product visualizations & instructional guides in support of FBIN strategies. Deliver skill development programs necessary to assure technical competencies are aligned to achieve goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in product development to include 4 years leading the support and implementation of enterprise-level PPM, Analytics, Financials, and PLM systems in a distributed global organization is required.
  • Expert level knowledge and hands-on configuration experience of MS Project online, SharePoint online, SQL Server, MS Power Platform, PLM tools like Windchill, Enovia or similar required.
  • Experience in merging data from ERP platform with MS Project Server/SQL Server data, and Excel based financial models within QlikView analytics software required.
  • Experience in the design and development of insightful portfolio dashboards and analytics; in depth knowledge of project ROI financial metric relationships and interdependencies required.
  • Demonstrated passion for learning, adoption of new technology, and independent decision-making. Excellent technology troubleshooting skills, and ability to learn new tools, skills, and environments quickly.
  • Ability to effectively manage change and complex organizational projects, navigate and influence others in a matrixed environment (management experience preferred), deliver tough messages and resolve conflict. Demonstrated success assessing and managing risk in complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, technical writing experience, and procedure / instruction writing experience.
  • High level of communication and inter-personal skills with the ability to collaborate with people at all levels and functions of the organization.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to approximately 10% of the time, both domestically and internationally
