What are the responsibilities and job description for the CAD Technicians – Civil/Structural - Junior Level position at Moffatt & Nichol?
Moffatt & Nichol is actively looking for junior level CAD Technicians. New hires may be seated in any of the offices listed above. The successful CAD Technicians will draft and revise detailed drawings using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation for use in planning, permitting, reports, and various construction documents. You will work on infrastructure projects in the areas of ports and harbors, coastal, environmental, water resources, urban waterfronts and marinas, bridges, rail, and/or buildings.

Duties and responsibilities:
- Transform initial rough designs and mark-ups into finished working documents
- Draft detailed drawings of structures and installations such as cargo terminals, marinas, wharfs, bulkhead walls, and coastal structures (beaches, revetments, breakwaters and jetties)
- Compute volumes of excavations and fill for dredging and earthmoving projects
- Assist designers and senior technicians with preparation of engineering drawing packages

Qualifications:
- Associates degree or equivalent in relevant discipline required
- 2 - 4 years of related heavy civil or infrastructure project experience required
- AutoCAD, MicroStation or Revit experience required
- Knowledge of material properties
- Understanding and application of CAD standards
- Good numeracy, geometry, and computer skills
- SolidWorks and/or, Civil 3D experience preferred
- Understanding of construction methods
- All considered applicants will be required to take and pass software proficiency assessments
- All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
Physical demands:
Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
