What are the responsibilities and job description for the Directional Drill Operator position at MoldCable INC?
We are looking for qualified Drill Locators for the Pacific North West region.
The role of a Drill Locator includes the interpretation of signals sent from underground transmitters about location, angle, temperature, and other factors for the drill operator, who operates the drill. Perform semi-skilled activities related to HDD locating along with familiarity with industry standards, policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Operate Horizontal Directional Drill machinery for installation of underground telecommunications cable conduit, including fiber optic cables;
- Confirm bore path with drill locator (including walking the bore path);
- Ensure safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities;
- Operate and work around heavy equipment and machinery including assisting the driller with the operation of the drill;
- Perform proper maintenance by greasing, oiling, and making minor repairs on equipment;
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned in order to help the team complete a project.
Requirements
- A valid Class A/B CDL is required;
- At least 2 years of drill operating experience;
- Knowledge and experience with construction and general industry safety standards and procedures;
- Read, understand, and interpret engineering plans and specifications;
- Proven experience in underground utility construction;
- Ability to work 5-6 days per week in an all-weather environment and be willing to travel as required.
