What we need. MDG is seeking an experienced Controller with exceptional knowledge of accounting principles to help drive operational performance throughout our facilities.
What you will do. Reporting to the CFO, the Controller is responsible for planning, managing, and coordinating the general accounting functions of the organization. Must have the ability to manage general ledger closings, cost accounting, budgets and forecasts, financial analysis, and financial reporting in a manufacturing environment. Supervisory responsibility for payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of monthly financial reports to department managers and the leadership team members.
- Compile various composite operating and financial statements from individual reports of subordinates required by management or government agencies.
- Supervise the maintenance of organization general ledger.
- Manage treasury functions including on-line banking, wire transfers, and cash reconciliations.
- Oversee the preparation of government related reports to include census report, sales and use tax returns, and property tax returns.
- Create, review, and approve journal entries and adjustments to the general ledger.
- Determine accounting procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedites workflow.
- Analyze and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of department operations.
- Ensure reports accurately reflect the condition of the business and provide reliable information for management decisions.
- Assist in preparing and compiling budget information and end of the year financial reports.
- Work with internal and external auditors to verify financial reports.
- Conduct special accounting studies and prepare reports as requested.
- Keep up to date on regulations affecting the company's accounting procedures and recordkeeping.
- Providing analysis, management reporting, planning, and accounting support to various managers and key employees.
- Prepare balance sheets and profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Complete balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- CPA certificate preferred
- At least 5 years accounting/financial analysis experience within a manufacturing company
- Must be highly computer literate with data mining and ERP systems (IQMS preferred)
- Requires deadline driven, high-energy individual, able to work autonomously and lead as key contributor on teams.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the accounting and finance field, including cost accounting. Ability to work independently; willingness to accept task ownership of new responsibilities in growing environment.
