Momofuku Ko and Ko Bar
Momofuku Ko opened in 2008. Ko is guided by the Japanese kaiseki tradition as well as seasonality, the innovation of our mentors and peers, food memories, and the breadth of cuisine available in the melting pot of New York City. Ko has two Michelin stars, which it has maintained since 2009. In 2015, Ko was awarded three stars by the New York Times.
Ko Bar, which opened in 2018, serves an evolving a la carte menu and an expansive beverage program.
The Ko Beverage Server is warm, hospitable, yet professional and exacting while providing above and beyond service in line with Momofuku standards and values. The Bar Server is a well-presented, organized individual who wants to be part of a team that tests limits. Beverage Servers curate and augment the guest experience in the Main Dining Room while prioritizing the beverage aspects of the program.
Compensation: $15 per hour, plus applicable tips

Responsibilities
- Oversee and guide guest’s complete restaurant experience, prioritizing beverage service and pairing details based on guests’ personal tastes and food
- Provide knowledgeable, approachable, efficient, and energetic service at all times
- Maintain full menu knowledge for both food and beverage items, including all allergen information. This may include ingredient provenance and simple descriptions of unfamiliar ingredients or preparation methods.
- Adhere to all company service standards and protocols
- Ensure food and beverage arrive to guests quickly and correctly, checking in for guest satisfaction throughout their meal
- Ensure that beverages are served at the right temperature and within the proper servingware
- Build relationships with guests to facilitate return visits or private event bookings
- Manage section and Mise Server according to service pacing
- Serve alcoholic beverages responsibly
- Utilize the POS system correctly for order entry and payment processing
- Ensure proper table maintenance, including water service, pre-bussing, etc.
- Assist in Host duties such as seating, reservation and table management
- Produce and serve beverage according to restaurant specifications
- Perform opening and closing duties to standards required
- Complete regular deep cleaning of the restaurant
- Set up, detail, and break down the Bar Room and service stations to standards required
- Stock and prepare service related items
- Maintain professional and warm guest communications
- Recognize key people in the industry, VIP guests and contacts related to the company and follow company protocol related to their visit
- Communicate respectfully and clearly with service team and management
- Support team members in the completion of their duties to ensure satisfaction of all guests before, during, and after service
- Engage management for any escalated guest situations
- Adhere to Momofuku's Cleaning and sanitation SOPs
- Assist in bathroom maintenance as needed
- Additional service and/or operational tasks as determined by manager
- Adhere to grooming and dress code standards
- Assist teammates to anticipate all other FOH needs
Required Qualifications
- 2 years of experience as a Bartender, Server, Captain, or related role in a restaurant with a comparable service style and/or cuisine
- A positive and enthusiastic attitude, as well as a desire to learn, grow, and develop new skills
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve guest conflict
- Willing to accept guidance in a positive manner and implement the direction in a way that is productive for both you and the team
- Able to work in a standing/walking position for long periods of time
- Ability to demonstrate quick thinking and adaptability in a constantly changing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of experience as a Bartender, Server, Captain, or related role in a restaurant with a comparable service style and/or cuisine
- Ability to train new Bar Servers in all aspects and responsibilities of the role
- A proven track record of dependability and a continuous focus on learning and development
Physical Demands
- The physical demands for this position are seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching, frequently lifting up to 25 pounds, occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, sitting, standing, for 4 to 8 hours, bending, and moving intermittently during working hours.
