Our manufacturing facility is expanding and is excited to have an opening for an experienced Quality Assurance Manager in the Kennett Square/West Chester area.
JOB SUMMARY AND MISSION
The Quality Assurance Manager achieves set quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews, prepares and completes action plans, implements production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards, while identifying and resolving problems, completing audits, determining system improvements, and implementing change.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Responsible for leading the plant efforts in SQF2 to ensure that products/processes meet and exceed, customer and regulatory requirements to include product quality attributes and food safety
- Hands-on involvement on the production floor
- Lead and develop quality and plant team members
- Problem solving skills are essential
- Plan, prioritize and execute quality activities to meet or exceed, customer standards and expectations
- Identify quality improvement opportunities and implement solutions in a proactive and data driven approach within a team based environment
- Ensure food safety, food security, and regulatory compliance (HACCP, GMP, SDS, microbial surveillance, product protection, weight control, etc.) are being executed properly to quality expectations
- Resource for Mompops, customers and suppliers for product quality and food safety initiatives.
- Coordinate all plant inspections/audits (FDA, Dept. of Ag, 3rd party audits, SQF2, Kosher,etc) and implement action plans.
- Compiles and reports quality metrics on a periodic basis
- Communicate results to the leadership team
- Leadership in building strength of quality systems throughout the plant and plant support personnel, including maintenance of SQF systems
- Investigate and implement effective solutions to customer or consumer complaints
- Ensures management direction for employee education and developing direct reports.
- Partner with all departments to assure seamless transition in product commercialization and new equipment
- Manage quality programs throughout the plant to include methods development, sampling strategy, pest control, waste management, master sanitation schedule, and chemical safety practices
- Ensure team members conduct their work in a safe and legal manner, according to all GMP food safety standards as well as following any safety protocols.
- Involved with production in the plant to problem solve and process improvement, work practices improvement
- Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills i.e. training, coaching, facilitating, written, conflict resolution

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience leading GFSI programs in the food manufacturing industry
- Development and management of critical food safety systems (HACCP, GMP, Risk Assessment, Allergens, PPE, Microbial)
- Successfully implemented quality systems and tools and concepts
- Experience of food manufacturing
- Exposure in development and management of GFSI standards is preferred
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
- Basic skills in Microsoft Windows and internet applications
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Moving throughout the facility 75% of the day
