Lifeguards are responsible for patrolling a public beach and swimming area to ensure the safety and welfare of all bathers on the premises. This includes standing watch and patrolling the beach, keeping swimmers within safe swimming boundaries, maintaining order on and in the swimming premises and enforcing compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. Also lifeguards must be administers of first aid and resuscitation techniques when necessary. Secondarily, lifeguards should keep the swimming and beach area free of debris and clean.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a valid certificate in Lifeguard Training from a recognized certifying agency acceptable to the New York State Department of Health such as a Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED with Waterfront Skills certificate issued by the American Red Cross
