- Provide an individualized prescriptive program for each child, tailored to overcome child's limitations and enhance strengths.
- Monitor the development of each child's skills.
- Provide and model appropriate educational materials for parents to use with their child.
- Assist in the assessment of language development, fine and gross motor development, cognitive, emotional and social development.
- Maintain classroom equipment, work areas, student files/records (e.g. instructional materials, cleaning work areas/playground., etc. for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing reliable information and/or ensuring a safe and sanitary environment.
- Implement academic, behavior, health and nutrition plans (e.g. literacy activities, stories, songs, math/science activities, art, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established regulations and/or performance standards and encouraging parent involvement.
- Develop and maintain an appropriate relationship with parents and inform them of the student's progress.
- Provide supervision and direction to teacher aide. Organize and plan activities for teacher aide.
- Participate in extracurricular activities that are a part of the total educational experience for all children.
- Participate in IEPC and MET meetings when appropriate.
- Participate in program committees designed to improve/enhance the overall program.
- Conduct home visits and parent conferences.
- Maintain regular, predictable in-person attendance.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation necessary for duties.
- Follow work rules.
- Adhere to MCISD Guidelines and Policies.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Assume other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Bachelor's degree with a major in Early Childhood Education or a major in Child Development with a specialization in preschool teaching; or
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate and an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement; or
- Bachelor's degree in a child-related field including 18 semester hours of coursework in Early Childhood Education or child development and 480 hours of experience; or
- Associate's degree in child-related field including 18 semester hours of coursework in Early Childhood Education or child development and 480 hours of experience.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and parents.
- Excellent oral and written skills.
- Demonstrated organizational skills.
- A Michigan and FBI criminal history check, post job offer and prior to employment. The processing fee of $43.25 is the responsibility of the district.
- Childcare Background Check through the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs post job offer and prior to employment.

AVAILABLE: Full-time school year position available immediately. 202 contract days (includes 11 holidays). Work schedule based on Head Start school year; Full day session. 8:00 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.
SALARY & BENEFITS: 3-Step Pay Scale $38,066 - $38,811 annually; Benefits: Single medical, vision and dental. Effective July 21, 2021 and while grant funds are available: $500.00 signing bonus; Additional $500.00 after 6 months employment.
