Position Summary:
As a designer at Towmaster, you will collaborate with the Sales, Engineering and Production teams on design projects for lowboy trailers. A designer at Towmaster should possess excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

As a designer at Towmaster, you will collaborate with the Sales, Engineering and Production teams on design projects for lowboy trailers. A designer at Towmaster should possess excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
All duties associated with the job:
- Use SolidWorks to create models and drawings of Towmaster products
- Coordinate between Sales Staff, Engineering Staff, and Production Manager, the flow of the design development, and the drawings needed to complete the order
- Research materials, components and methods of development
- Organize and maintain existing engineering records
- Ensure Towmaster components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for the job:
- 5 years of experience in a design position
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Proficient in SolidWorks CAD software
- Experience in lowboy trailer design preferred
- Structural knowledge a plus
- Knowledge of the heavy haul trailer industry preferred
Education Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 year degree in CAD drafting and design technology
Certification Requirements:
- None required
Experience Requirements:
- Experience in lowboy trailer design is preferred, experience in automotive or other transportation design is helpful.
- Experience in structural design appreciated
Work environment:
This position will spend the majority of time in a typical, quiet office environment and periodically spending time in a shop environment where fabrication, welding, painting and assembly is taking place creating a noisy atmosphere typical to the industry. Towmaster provides Personal Protective Equipment as require by OSHA. Employees must be able to cope with Minnesota climates; endure heat and cold conditions while in the shop.
