Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day to day work routine for self and others. Assists with development of pipeline safety and integrity standardized procedures and policies related to system design, integrity management, construction, maintenance, training and compliance. Review audit findings and provide technical support to draft responses. This position requires on-call assignments for the gas incident notification hotline and reporting of incidents to State and Federal agencies. This position is responsible to know and apply basic concepts, practices, and procedures with guidance from a higher level.

District Office locations in the IGC/CNG/MDU Utilities Group service territory will be considered.

Job Responsibilities:
1. Develops curriculum and assists with technical training facilitation for various work groups on company policies and procedures.
2. Assists with liaison activities between various state PSC/PUC and internal departments (quality assurance, engineering operations, technology and safety) to facilitate response to government audit findings and make internal recommendations to address company performance.
3. May represent the company at trade, state, and national organizations or associations.
4. Assists with Company Procedures updates and release processes.
5. Drafts company standards, procedures and policies related to pipeline safety and pipeline integrity.
6. Interacts within company groups to discuss and communicate best practices relating to policy and procedure.
7. Researches and develops policy language for new or changing engineering, operations and maintenance regulations.
8. Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess a working knowledge of natural gas pipeline operations and analytical skills at a level normally acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in a business or engineering related discipline.
  • Three years of experience working with gas distribution and transmission standards, systems or equivalent experience, as well as applicable state and federal requirements including the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, Part 192.

Other Requirements:

  • Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
  • May be required to maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Occasional overnight travel is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in natural gas distribution, transmission, utility service, worker and job site safety, pipeline safety, pipeline integrity and training.
  • Working knowledge of programs used at MDUG companies, i.e. PCAD, CC&B, Maximo.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficient in operation and use of personal computers with commercially available software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop technical written rules, standards, policies.
  • Strong ability to design and facilitate individual training sessions as well as group presentations to employees, contractors and government officials.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities, solve problems.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $64,800.00 - $81,000.00 per year
