Description
The primary job functions will support EHS excellence across the site. The position is focused on Safety, IH, Environmental, and Maintenance projects, including assisting with the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and best practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the EHS and Maintenance departments with special projects as assigned
- Create, update, and maintain Job Safety Focuses, ECP forms, LOTO forms
- Completing routine EHS related inspections
- Chemical management including receiving, storage and distribution of chemicals.
- Chemical tank pump out and cleaning operations. Use of PPE required.
- Waste management including maintaining chemical storage area, waste collection, waste characterization, labeling and coordination of proper disposal.
- Spill Clean Up
- Contractor safety programs including oversite, auditing, training (Contractor Training), hot work permits etc.
- Enforcement of EHS policies
- 24-Hour On call for emergency response
- Communication and training with all shifts
- Participation in EHS teams
- Assist the EHS department with managing and improving tracking systems and databases
- Other duties as assigned
Work Environment:
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds repetitively. Occasionally lifts up to 40 pounds non-repetitive. With assistance, occasionally lift over 40 pounds.
- Able to work in an area where there is moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBa).
- Able to work in an area where, due to normal machining operations there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL)).
Schedule:
Day (1st) Shift: 6am-4:30pm, Monday-Thursday

Requirements
- Two years progressive experience in a manufacturing environment and/or Environmental, Health and Safety
- Ability to speak, read and write English
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
- US Person Status (see Employment Eligibility)Able to work under general direction with minimal supervision
- Available to work scheduled hours and be available on-call if needed 24 hrs a day.
- Adept with computer and Microsoft Programs (or willingness to learn Microsoft Programs)
- Ability to initiate and complete projects
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to apply common sense understanding to standardized situations, requiring occasional assistance.
- Able to read and understand safety rules and instructions in the use and maintenance of shop equipment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience preparing Safety Risk Assessments
- Experience working with Gensuite EHS Web Applications
- Experience with RCRA, DOT, Hazwoper regulations
- Experience leading or participating in a safety-related team
- Experience in a manufacturing facility
