Summary:
The Data Engineer will be responsible for efficiently maintaining the company’s production and development database environments. This position is for an experienced data builder skilled in optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. This position requires working knowledge and experience in supporting DBMS to meet industry best practices. This position is also responsible for designing and implementing various tools utilized for business intelligence and manufacturing intelligence within the corporate and operation site levels including facility HMIs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain an ongoing support model for optimizing DBMS performance, security and integrity
- Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements
- Build and maintain analytics tools (BI & MI) that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
- Generation, distribution, analysis and use of information data and knowledge in systems.
- Integrate new and existing applications to function with databases
- Provide professional technical insight to solving enterprise class database systems
- Implementation of data analysis and trending within facility HMIs
- Responsible for providing support for Montauk Energy’s data gathering and analysis needs
- Responsible for supporting database and applications
- Other duties as assigned
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Support and assist process improvement activities at existing facilities with new equipment and applications
- Support and assist automations group with programming and troubleshooting PLCs and HMIs
- Support and assist end users with system applications and troubleshoot common issues related to business intelligence and mechanical intelligence products
- Support and assist cohesive working relationship with intracompany system support personnel
- Support and assist with SOP and training material development
- Other duties as assigned
General Responsibilities:
- Deskside support for troubleshooting end user applications, networks, and peripherals
- Creation of technical documentation and manuals
Transitionary Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and support of Microsoft PowerApps platform
- Maintenance and support of the company website
- Administration of company LinkedIn site
- Creation and publication of company’s quarterly newsletter
- Administration of other company social media platforms
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree – Computer Science, Information Technology or Software Engineering and 3-5 years of DBMS experience
- Prior Automation exposure to HMI, SCADA and PLC’s design
- Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases
- Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
- Strong project management, organizational and time management skills.
- Professional work ethic with strong communication skills.
- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
