Job Title: Purchasing Clerk
Business Unit: Purchasing 145MIL
Location: Princeton, IL (In-Person)
Reports to: Purchasing Supervisor
Work Schedule: Generally, M-F 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Travel Time: %: Less than 5%
Position Type: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY:
The main job of a Purchasing Clerk is to create and maintain meaningful liaison with vendors so as to assure constant procurement of supplies. The Purchasing Clerk the activities involved with procuring goods and services for the facility, and confers with production managers to determine the amount and types of materials needed for a project and ensure that they are delivered to the department or unit in a timely fashion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Generate Purchase Orders from Material Requisitions and place orders with Vendors.
  • Issue inventory parts from Storeroom
  • Check for inventory material that he needs to be reordered for stock
  • Lead daily inventory spot checks and monthly cycles counts
  • Assist with yearly inventory count
  • Backup for Purchasing Attendant
  • Backup for Purchasing Supervisor
  • Receiving in Purchase Orders in JDE
  • Assist with PO's and receipts of Raw Material and occasionally packing supplies
  • Observe and practice safety procedures at all times. Be safety conscious. Correct or notify supervisor of safety hazards. In the event of an accident, notify supervisor immediately. Attend Safety Meetings.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable products or services with users and vendors to determine source of trouble and take corrective actions.
  • Liaison with accounting department to reconcile invoices and purchase orders.
  • Arrange for disposal of surplus material.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
  • Working knowledge of purchasing procedures
  • Able to create and administer a task priority list based on company needs
  • The ability to organize and prioritize workflow
  • Computer literate and skilled in data entry (Computer, MS Office suite literate)
  • Knowledge of filing, record keeping and data entry
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:
Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Proven history of effective supply management
  • 3 years experience in purchasing role
Desired:
  • Two-three years of experience in the mushroom industry, food manufacturing, or a similar fast-paced production environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Multiple facility environments experience
