POSITION SUMMARY: The main job of a Purchasing Clerk is to create and maintain meaningful liaison with vendors so as to assure constant procurement of supplies. The Purchasing Clerk the activities involved with procuring goods and services for the facility, and confers with production managers to determine the amount and types of materials needed for a project and ensure that they are delivered to the department or unit in a timely fashion.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with department managers and their designated personnel to purchase material, supplies, and services to enable them to effectively manage their departments.
  • Perform all procedures for purchasing month-end close and produce all related reports
  • Purchase materials and supplies at competitive prices. Receive material requests from any department, review for proper authorization, obtain competitive quotes from vendors, purchase at competitive price, receive in timely manner, and issue to proper department. Meet with vendors as necessary to negotiate value, quality, and pricing.
  • Generate Purchase Orders from Material Requisitions and place orders with Vendors.
  • Receiving in Purchase Orders in JDE
  • Assist with PO's and receipts of Raw Material and occasionally packing supplies
  • Perform all requirements of sanitation, GMP/HACCP standards, including hairnet where required and personal hygiene policies.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Observe and practice safety procedures at all times. Be safety conscious. Correct or notify supervisor of safety hazards. In the event of an accident, notify supervisor immediately. Attend Safety Meetings.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Any special projects requested by manager.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
  • Working knowledge of purchasing procedures
  • Able to create and administer a task priority list based on company needs
  • The ability to organize and prioritize workflow
  • Computer literate and skilled in data entry (Computer, MS Office suite literate)
  • Knowledge of filing, record keeping and data entry
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:
Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Proven history of effective supply management
  • 3 years experience in purchasing role
Desired:
  • Two-three years of experience in the mushroom industry, food manufacturing, or a similar fast-paced production environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Multiple facility environments experience
