A vacancy exists for a part-time
Mobile Environmental Lab Operator/Facilitator to work within the Office of Professional Learning at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU). This position is responsible for the lab schedule, including site and event participation, and the maintenance and equipping of the mobile lab. A clear understanding of the local environmental landscape and the ability to manage multiple projects is required. The ability to assist certificated staff with the presentation of content in an informational, enthusiastic and interactive manner to all ages is essential to this position.
This is a part-time position and will work a maximum of 60 days per year.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field (Bachelor's degree requirement may be waived with significant experience in specialized area of position)
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in appropriate field, leadership experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of environmental literacy and sustainability
- Understanding of best practices in the delivery of field-based experiences
- Enthusiasm, industriousness, and a team player
- Outstanding presentation skills to all ages
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher
- Exceptional oral and written communications skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as an effective team member
- Extraordinary people and customer service skills
- Ability to creatively and effectively problem solve
- Bi-lingual, Spanish in particular, a plus
- Willingness and ability to travel, occasional evening and weekend hours may be required
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license required
- Original certificates of clearance from the State Police, Child Abuse Registry, and PDE FBI
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and support the delivery of a variety of environmental science programs for students and educators, including school visits and classroom programs, pre- and post-visit activities, and materials.
- Operate a school van in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with all Federal and State DOT regulations.
- Assist the STEM Program Administrator with creating and communicating a plan for marketing of lab services to schools.
- Catalog a comprehensive program for all educational offerings.
- Implement systems to support a safe, efficient and effective program, including but not limited to: Record keeping, calendars and schedules, statistics and reporting, and transportation safety plans.
- In collaboration with the STEM Program Administrator, plan, develop, implement and manage assigned budgets and allocation of resources related to programming.
- Oversee and perform supply ordering, storage and usage of the lab.
- Oversee and perform all contractual and billing functions associated with the lab.
- Coordinate maintenance of van with MCIU Facilities.
- Cultivate regional relationships with K-12 schools and local environmental and science entities.
Location:
The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located at 2 W. Lafayette St. Norristown, PA 19401. This position requires travel to schools and locations throughout Montgomery County, PA.
Work Schedule:
Part-time variable schedule, up to 60 days per year
Occasional evening and weekend hours
Salary:
$232 - $274 per day, based on education and experience
