    Job Summary:

    An instructional coach is an education professional who supports and guides teachers to improve their instructional practices and enhance student learning. They work closely with teachers, administrators, and other educators to provide ongoing professional development, feedback, and resources to help teachers excel in their roles.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    None.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Collaborating with teachers: Instructional coaches establish trusting relationships with teachers and collaborate with them to identify their professional goals and needs. They work together to develop strategies and action plans to meet those goals.
    • Providing professional development: Coaches offer professional development sessions and workshops to help teachers improve their instructional strategies, classroom management techniques, assessment methods, and overall teaching practices. They stay updated on the latest research and best practices in education to provide relevant and effective support.
    • Modeling effective teaching practices: Instructional coaches demonstrate effective teaching practices in classrooms, providing teachers with real-life examples of successful instructional strategies. They may co-teach lessons or observe teachers in action and provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
    • Observing and providing feedback: Coaches regularly observe teachers' instructional practices, providing constructive feedback and guidance based on their observations. They help teachers reflect on their teaching methods, identify areas for growth, and implement strategies to address those areas.
    • Analyzing student data: Instructional coaches help teachers analyze student data, such as assessment results and progress reports, to identify strengths and areas of improvement. They assist teachers in using data to inform instructional decisions and differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
    • Developing and implementing instructional resources: Coaches work with teachers to develop instructional resources, lesson plans, and materials that align with curriculum standards and educational goals. They may provide teachers with research-based strategies, teaching tools, and technology integration ideas.
    • Supporting curriculum alignment: Coaches assist in aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessments to ensure coherence and consistency across grade levels and subject areas. They help teachers understand and implement standards, frameworks, and district initiatives effectively.
    • Providing ongoing support: Instructional coaches offer ongoing support to teachers throughout the school year. They are available for one-on-one consultations, coaching sessions, and collaboration meetings to address specific needs and challenges.
    • Building a professional learning community: Coaches foster a collaborative and supportive environment by facilitating professional learning communities (PLCs) or subject-area teams. They encourage teachers to share ideas, resources, and best practices with their colleagues.
    • Keeping up with professional development: Instructional coaches continuously engage in their own professional development to stay updated on the latest research, instructional methods, and educational technologies. They attend conferences, participate in workshops, and read professional literature to enhance their knowledge and skills.
    • Overall, instructional coaches play a crucial role in supporting and empowering teachers to enhance their instructional practices, increase student engagement, and improve overall academic achievement.

    Required Skills & Abilities:

    Teaching experience in an elementary school setting.

    • Strong knowledge of effective instructional strategies that result in student mastery and academic success.
    • Successful experience with differentiating instruction.
    • Excellent aptitude with classroom behavior management skills and strategies.
    • Proficiency in a variety of assessment practices.
    • Strong background and knowledge of the Core Knowledge Scope and Sequence as well as Orton Gillingham, and Science of Reading based ELA curriculum.
    • Familiarity with Classical Education and how that applies to instruction and learning.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to build positive relationships with teachers and administrators.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in data collection and analysis.
    • Strong ability to use data to inform instruction.
    • Successful experience in delivering productive and pertinent professional development workshops.
    • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment.

    Education & Experience:

    Bachelor’s degree in education (Master’s Preferred)
    Minimum of 5 years teaching experience with a professional CO teaching license

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
    • Must be able to traverse a gym or field and adjust one's tone and height,
