Monument Chemical Houston is seeking qualified candidates to fill our Analytical Chemist Intern position for Summer 2024.
Interns are responsible for funding and handling their housing and relocation arrangements.
DESCRIPTION Provide technical support assistance to Analytical Chemist while meeting company safety, environment, and economic guidelines. Candidate must be working towards a bachelor's or master's degree.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform non-routine and complex analyses for production and non-production samples using a variety of analytical instrumentation. Using relevant tools, evaluate validity of data, apply statistics, interpret results and take appropriate action. Perform complex calibration and maintenance of analytical systems. Perform in-depth troubleshooting of analytical systems. Issue recommendations regarding safety, health and environmental issues that impact operations and personnel. Interpret instructions and apply learned scientific principles on assignments, complex features, and possible solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have completed junior level chemistry or chemical engineering classes
- Must have excellent verbal/written/interpersonal communication skills
- Strong PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Must have lawful unlimited authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Eligible to obtain a TWIC card
- Minimum 3.0 GPA, required
- Interns are responsible to secure their own housing arrangements
