Description
Gain first-hand knowledge in the horticulture industry while spending a semester in a unique island resort setting. Moody Gardens' goal is to help our interns gain a broader understanding of the industry.
Tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Learn daily tasks to prepare the Rainforest Exhibit for opening
- Gain experience identifying signs of disease and pests and how to treat
- Assist in the Greenhouse with propagating plants and plant care
- Learn about horticultural therapy and assist with programing
- Work closely with other horticulturists and interact with guests
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Currently studying or recently graduated in horticulture or related field
- Must be reliable and responsible
- Ability to effectively work with internal and external customers
- Capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds, climb ladders, stairs and work around water
- Ability to perform duties in confined spaces
- Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time
- Ability to perform duties within extreme weather and temperature ranges
