Moog's Space & Defense Group - Salt Lake City Operations is a high production facility for missile steering and weaponized turret systems. This is a rapidly growing business with significant opportunities for professional development. We are looking for a Product Engineer to provide engineering support and direction to aid the production of Control Actuation Systems and Wing/Fin deployment mechanisms for missiles.
Here's what you'll be working on day to day:
Under the general supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Product Engineer has full technical responsibility for the assigned production program(s) within a Value Stream. This includes being the focal point for resolving all questions/problems concerning the design, manufacture, assembly and test of production hardware. The incumbent initiates changes and deviations to the design or specification requirements. They are the primary contact for customers, vendors, and internal Moog personnel on all technical problems and questions. The Product Engineering is also responsible for test failure diagnosis using structured problem solving.
* Focus on continuous improvement in a Lean Manufacturing environment
* Learn/understand the design, theory of operation, key performance characteristics, specification requirements, performance margins, and test methodology of deliverable product.
* Learn/understand the assembly and test processes, parts, tools, and equipment.
* Quickly respond to PARRs, NCs (MRB), Value Stream Initiatives, need for AVOs.
* Maintain visual work instructions, routing, and travel cards with appropriate level of detail.
* Optimize assembly & test yield and cost through process and design improvements.
* Provide product engineering support as required to other Moog departments to maintain and improve quality, schedule, and cost objectives
Here's the skills and abilities you will need to bring with you:
* BS Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
* 3 years experience in the production/design/development/test of complex assemblies
* Interpersonal skills to communicate at all levels within Moog and at the customer/vendor level
* Motivation and willingness to drive and support continuous improvement activities
* Experience with Paperless Factory Floor Systems is preferred
* Ability to simultaneously support and complete a large and varied list of tasks
* Ability to access US export-controlled information

The base pay range for this opportunity in UT is $67,000 - $123,000 annually. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual profit-sharing bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, competitive 401K plan with enhanced matching program, and many region-specific benefits.
