Moog Space and Defense Group is the premier motion and flow control solutions provider for the following markets: satellites, human-rated space vehicles, launch vehicles, missiles, military ground vehicles, naval vessels, and security and surveillance. Emerging areas of focus include metal additive manufacturing, blockchain for supply chain, sensor integration, and propulsion test facilities.
Moog is looking for a Quality Assurance Associate to work at the Galax facility,
located at 115 Jack Guynn Dr, Galax, 24333
*This will be a full-time position,40 hours per week
Responsibilities
- Perform lot conformance inspections on all product to IPC standards both visually and mechanically and compare results to customer drawings, artwork, job instructions and applicable specifications
- Review travelers for information and ensure the proper revision is being worked on
- Review engineering change orders and search for and/or initiate waivers/deviations to ensure compliance to customer requirements when non-conformances arise
- Performing Preventative Maintenance and Cleaning requirements daily
- Perform rework steps for non-conforming product to bring product into compliance
- Assist in developing, updating, and implementing Quality Systems documentation
- Cross-train for electrical testing, micro-section, and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI’s)
- Assist in continual improvement projects as assigned
- Quarantine non-conforming product and assist Quality Manager in dispositioning scrap material
- Report Statistical Process Control data for product yields
- Perform incoming inspection of products and services
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- 3 years of experience in a manufacturing and/or quality environment
- Ability to follow work instructions, charts, and blueprints Ability to use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers,
- Mechanical aptitude and good dexterity
- Basic computer skills and Microsoft office experience in Word and Excel
- Must have basic math skills (adding, subtracting, multiplication, division)
- Ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision
- Ability to adapt to change and learn quickly
- Willingness to cross-train, work flexible hours, overtime (during the week and on weekends) as necessary
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation

Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of college or more preferred
