Private equity funds have long been one of the most attractive investment opportunities, outperforming public market benchmarks, like the S&P 500. But these funds have also been difficult or impossible to access, especially for individuals. Onerous paperwork, high investment minimums (~€10m) and difficulty picking a fund have all been hurdles that kept individuals out. Access has always been dominated by institutions or a select few. Enter Moonfare. 

Moonfare is revolutionising access to private equity using a fully digital platform that provides qualified investors access to selectively vetted top-performing funds within 15 minutes and at minimums as low as €50,000. Moonfare provides investors with  innovative reporting and the potential to trade their stakes in funds using our Secondary Market. Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d)
The role can be based in Berlin or Lisbon

As a Sr. Backend Engineer at Moonfare you will have the opportunity to not only conceptualise and craft cutting edge Microservices from scratch, you'll be at the forefront of innovation, driving performance and scalability to new heights collaborating closely with talented teams across diverse verticals. Reporting into one of our dedicated Engineering Managers, you will embrace industry best practices, integrate the latest technologies ensuring the delivery of exceptional results that leave a lasting impact as we continue to democratise private equity investing for the globe.

You will:

• Build and maintain microservices that will help drive growth at Moonfare.
• Set engineering standards, implement and develop best practices for the platform
• Take ownership of the backend architecture and create a state of the art microservices environment
• Write tests and care about the quality of your code
• Use your world-class development techniques to deliver a high-performance, stable and auto-scalable production system that delivers business value in weeks, not quarters or years

The next Moonfarian:

• 5 years of professional experience as a Backend Engineer
• Exceptional experience working within a microservice based architecture
• Fluency in Typescript
• Is independent and has excellent experience with AWS
• Is adaptable and has excellent experience with GitHub actions, CI/CD
• Ideally has experience with Kubernetes
• Excellent experience with Relational Databases/Redis
• Is a go-getter and proactively finds innovative solutions to complex problems  
• Has an obsession with writing clean code and a testing mindset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to lead team meetings
