PARAPROFESSIONAL POSITION
SUMMARY
A full timeparaprofessional position is available for the 2023-2024 school year. Applicants must work well with all children and be able to multitask in a fast pace setting.

- 7:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m
- full time, school year position
PAY RATE
Hourly wage $12.85 through EduStaff
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The paraprofessional reports to the building principal and assists in the coordination and supervision of student activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist teacher in performing all his/her clerical responsibilities; preparation of materials, etc.
- Maintain accurate records on all children assigned to the program
- Assist teacher in carrying out the instructional program
- Assist students in attending to their personal and health care needs
- Follow students' Individualized Education Plan
- Assist in the physical management of students
- Exhibit flexibility and patience when dealing with staff and students
- Exhibit ability to work independently within guidelines established by the teacher and administration
- Maintain confidentiality of information pertaining to students and programs
- Demonstrate warmth, concern, care and enthusiasm, as well as a genuine interest in students
- Maintain regular, predictable attendance
- Follow work rules
- Transport students on occasion in district vehicles
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, waist high (lifting rest required)
- Must have regular, reliable and punctual attendance.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Must comply with all MAS rules, policies and regulations.
- Provide support to other positions as required.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises students under teaching staff direction.
Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience as a teacher aide for special needs children preferred
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with special needs students
- Good verbal, math and grammer skills
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to staff, parents, students and administrators.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment.
