MS Investment Management Technology (IMIT)
Morgan Stanley Investment Management Technology exclusively partners with the Morgan Stanley Investment Management business division to design and develop systems and integrate vendor products to globally support full life cycle business processing. Activities include Portfolio Analysis, Risk, Trading, Operations, and Sales & Marketing. Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) Technology also provides holistic support and quality assurance across the suite of applications used in the MSIM environment.
Opportunity with the team
In Equity Front Office Technology, we are rapidly transforming the way business is done. We seek an experienced full stack developer to join the team and embark on this transformation journey. The individual will work as part of the global agile development team, which is spread across 4 MSIM sites. The individual will help the team design and develop a modern technology stack to power our digital platforms aimed at unlocking efficiencies for our Investment Teams. As a front office developer, the individual will also work closely with the Investment Management business to solve operational problems and design strategic solutions.

- Java 8 , Spring Core, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Guava API
- C# .Net, React JS
- Sybase SQL and MS SQL databases
- FIX protocol, QuickFIX/J, ZeroMQ
- Python, Perl
- Unix/Linux shell-scripting
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and developing modern and modular applications using modern coding and testing standards.
- Participating in our agile ceremonies and actively driving towards the team's goals.
- Working independently using modern software development practices.
- Working collaboratively with a global team of technologists.
- Leading with ideas and innovation.
- Managing communication and partnering with our end users (MSIM Investment Teams) to design solutions.
Competencies:
- Candidate should have 4 years of experience
- Experience developing enterprise Java applications.
o Solid experience designing and building enterprise grade services.
o Solid experience writing unit and integration tests.
o Solid experience working with relational database.
o Should be able to demonstrate clear understanding of OOPs in practice.
- Strong problem-solving skills and programming fundamentals
- Willingness to work across full stack (including .Net apps, Javascript too)
- Experience working directly with end users.
- Strong understanding of financial markets and various financial instruments with a focus on Equities.
- Strong computer science fundamentals.
- Strong interpersonal skills and team spirit is required in addition to proficiency in verbal and written business communications.
- We support what we build - individual will be responsible for post-production support on a rotation basis.
- Knowledge of buy-side trading systems (OMS, EMS), FIX protocol, QuickFIX/J, ZeroMQ would be helpful.
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $100,000 and $150,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
