Job Description: As an Employment Outreach Specialist with our Refugee Services team, you'll play a crucial role in fostering employment opportunities for refugees. Your main responsibility will be to develop and implement strategies to connect refugees with potential employers. This includes cultivating relationships with local businesses to facilitate refugee employment placements.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a targeted marketing strategy to engage potential employers.
Collaborate with community partners to identify employment opportunities.
Proactively reach out to new companies to advocate for refugee hiring.
Monitor employment websites and periodicals regularly for job leads.
Leverage existing networks to identify employment prospects.
Conduct follow-up visits and meetings with interested companies.
Share relevant employer information with Refugee Services Employment staff.
Maintain a comprehensive database of potential employers.
Ensure compliance with contract requirements by maintaining case files for clients.
Provide pre-employment orientation and counseling to clients.
Assist clients in securing employment and conduct necessary data entry.
Facilitate ongoing communication between clients and employers post-placement.
Arrange transportation for job interviews and newly hired clients as needed.
Support various state employment, resettlement, and grant contracts.
Document employment services accurately in relevant files.
Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree with 1 Year work experience or High School Diploma with 4 years work experience.
At least one year of experience working with refugees or in recruiting, staffing, and job placements.
Familiarity with the Houston job market.
Ability to thrive in a diverse office environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Fluency in English required; bilingual in Spanish.
Self-motivated and energetic team player.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and independent judgment.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
