What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Morning Pointe?
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, piping, electrical and electronic systems by performing the following duties.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work on mechanical & electrical systems
- Work on HVAC
- Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions to include testing of machinery and equipment
- Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine
- Performs proper scheduling of work to maximize task completion with minimal plant disruption, reduction in unscheduled downtime, while lowering costs and creating higher plant efficiency
- Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery
- Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment
- Look for visible wear or defects on machinery daily
- Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as drill press, band saw, and grinder to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools
- Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
- Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures
- Helps with training others as needed
- Comply with Pager and Call-in for Supervisor on occasion
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and assists in repair of machine malfunctions to include programmable controllers; performs routine cleaning, and maintenance
- Follows all safety related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. Situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions
- Maintain a clean work environment including the machine, floors, desks, and fans in accordance with our 5S system
AUTHORITY: Must have the ability to lead a crew that has been placed with them to execute the demands of the maintenance operation efficiently and to respond to oral instructions from the supervisor and written instructions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school, or one year related manufacturing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
