Job Summary

The Vice President of Information Technology/CIO partners and collaborates with the Executive team to establish business objectives and technical strategies and determine what technologies are needed to achieve them. This role is responsible for directing property wide information systems/mainframe to ensure proper function and interplay with all departments. Ensures reliability, uptime and user compatibility from the mainframe both individually and through the IT team. Establishes department policies and procedures in conjunction with Minimum Internal controls as defined by Morongo Gaming Agency

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Participates in the development and implementation of MCRS strategic plan for all Information Technology initiatives and resources to support ongoing property operations.
  • Ensures compliance with all operational and regulatory policies and guidelines.
  • Ensures all technologies are used effectively and securely.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with MCRS long term goals.
  • Evaluates hardware and software requests and requirements and makes recommendations aligned with property wide business strategies.
  • Conducts on-going operational analysis and adjusts procedures and equipment to ensure the highest possible availability of IT resources.
  • Ensures the continuing viability of IT resources through proactive monitoring and management of those resources and their associated hardware, software.
  • Designs and implements local area network information systems to improve the efficiency of casino operations.
  • Ensures proper functioning of information systems/mainframe thus ensuring proper system interplay with all departments.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Requires strong leadership and motivational skills. Will interact with various levels of staff, management, government officials, and the public. 
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting and training team members; maintaining a safe and secure work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching and counseling team members; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.

Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of classified/sensitive information
  • Possesses knowledge of relevant operating systems and have the ability to troubleshoot, program, evaluate functionality of all MCRS software/hardware systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of data management and administration.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, programming or a closely related field required, Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive technological experience, 7 of which were spent in an executive capacity or senior level management position.
  • Experience in a Tribal Casino environment preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation to obtain and maintain a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and manuals written in English. Must be able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to communicate interpersonally and respond to inquiries from groups of managers, team members, guests and the general public. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, rates, ratio, proportions and percentages.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Problem solving and troubleshooting is essential for success in this position. Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, test possible solutions, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions as well as be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work involves frequent sitting, standing, walking and crouching or kneeling, reaching with arms and using the hands to manipulate, feel and enter data by frequent and sustained use of keyboard and mouse. Site work involves limited manual labor, typically involving the setup of desktop PCs, running data cables, and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. Requires the ability to speak and hear. Vision abilities required by this job typically include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Position involves functioning both in an office environment and various locations throughout the premises. The office environment has low to moderate noise levels and is a non-smoking environment. The Casino environment has moderate to loud noise, dim to moderate lighting, is often crowded and is a smoking environment.

 

WORKING HOURS:

Because we are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, most positions require flexibility in scheduling and may require team members be available for evenings, weekends, holidays and special events. A typical workweek and normal work schedules may vary based on business needs and may include scheduled shifts Monday through Sunday. Position may require overtime.
