Chef for Residential Assisted Living

We are looking for a Chef to join our team and prepare delicious meals for our residents in our Luxury Assisted Living Residence. This facility has a maximum of 12 residents which you will get to know and love, as we do, with all their dietary requirements. Chef responsibilities include selecting recipes and adjusting, printing and posting the menu and preparing high-quality dishes. You will be responsible for the preparation of 21 meals a week and cooking of at least 10 at specified times including deserts. You should be familiar with sanitation regulations. If you have experience with advanced cooking techniques and non-traditional ingredients, we’d like to meet you. Ultimately, you’ll prepare and deliver a complete menu that delights our residents.

Responsibilities

• Study each recipe and help plan appealing up-scale menus rotating on a 5-week schedule and seasonally
• Cook food in a timely manner
• Cook, bake, or prepare deserts
• Ensure appealing plate presentation
• interact with and communicate with caregivers who will prepare the remainder of the meals
• Modify recipes/plates to meet residents needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy, mechanical soft)
• Monitor food inventory and qualify shopping lists
• Make on-the-fly substitutions when necessary or to use up over purchased items
• Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items including labeling as per CDPHE Food safety guidelines
• Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area

Skills

• Proven work experience as a Chef or Cook
• Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment
• Advanced knowledge of culinary, baking, and pastry techniques
• Kitchen Management skills
• Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks
• Excellent time management abilities
• Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes
• Familiarity with sanitation regulations
• Culinary school diploma preferred
