Overview:
A leading and growing Northern California nut processor is looking to add a Cost Accountant to its growing accounting department. This position will play an integral role in the overall accounting function of the organization as it continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides professional accounting support to the corporate accounting functions including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cost Accounting, and General Accounting. Interprets accounting data, analyzes reports. Assists in functionality of accounting and operational software. Prepares journal entries, maintains ledgers, reconciles and analyzes specific general, intercompany and account ledgers. Assists in the development and installation of accounting systems, procedures, and controls.
Key Duties:
- Prepare journal entries
- Maintain API between Accounting and Operation software
- Profit and loss variance analysis
- Supporting audit schedules
- Assist with monthly, quarterly and yearly closing functions
- Cross-trained in other financial and cost accounting functions, including but not limited to: Cost Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and preparation of the annual budget
- Month and year-end close process-general journal entries, accruals, account analysis and reconciliation of accounts.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly reports to management.
- Review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.
- Prepare and analyze month end results.
- Sense of urgency, taking full ownership of tasks, helping others when appropriate, and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent Excel skills.
- Attention to details and knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and accounting processes.
- Reconcile and audit general ledger accounts, identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in Audits
- Analyze changes in goods provided in order to determine what effect it has on cost
- Assist in physical inventories and monitor cycle counts
- Assist with ad-hoc projects as needed.
- Excellent organizational skills and highly attentive to detail.
- Account reconciliations.
- General Ledger maintenance and related entries.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent experience
- Minimum two (2) years of professional Accounting experience
- Knowledge of U.S. General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), best practices, basic accounting terminology and concepts.
- Experience working with computerized accounting systems
- Experience with Cost Accounting
Compensation:
This position offers a competitive salary ($75k-95k) depending on experience and qualifications. In addition:
