The jobholder is the primary point of contact for all 3PL warehouses regarding inventory management, stock rotation and disposition. In this role, the jobholder will proactively strive to provide best in class inventory levels, improve customer service and reduce logistics cost.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop, manage and report on intra-company material transfers in order to drive optimum inventory levels versus forecast and safety stock targets, at assigned locations.
- Proactively reduce costs and improve service / inventory turns.
- Partner with key cross-functional and third-party stakeholders to effectively align distribution plan and inventory management activities across production, forecast, logistics, and cost.
- Partner daily with Supply Chain to inform them on material availability at SKU/location level.
- Responsible for SLOB (Slow Moving and Obsolete) Inventory activities- working report, work with Sales on resale of products, warehouse direction (dispose, sell, redistribute), SKU rationalization, obsolete, blocked and expired product disposition.
- Perform inventory adjustments in SAP & the 3rd party warehouse portals – i.e., blocking/unblocking for returns, cycle counts adjustments, OS&D, quality issues and book-to-book variances.
- Responsible for inventory receipts at 3PL warehouse – i.e., ensure receipts are correct in SAP and clear any EDI errors preventing inventory from moving into the SAP system, receipts of import shipments, correcting batch issues, variances, communicating back to plants on quantity, quality, or product variances.
- Oversee and provide directions to 3PL warehouses and Operations on quality issues as they pertain to inventory management, rework and disposition.
- Assist with projects and perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management or an equivalent functional area.
- Minimum of 2-3 years experience in inventory planning.
- Strong understanding of supply chain dynamics.
- Working knowledge of Material Management systems such as SAP (MRP) required.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with ERP Supply Chain Planning software.
- Strong computer/systems skills including basic MS Office programs.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new systems and operations.
- Common sense and diplomacy, with an elevated level of interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Effective problem identification, solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of key supply chain and inventory performance metrics, turns, margin contributions, etc.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities as well as attention to detail.
- Ability to make key decisions on a daily basis independently.
- Ability to lead cross-functionally, work in a team environment and collaborate with internal process partners.
- Advanced organization and time management skills with ability to manage stress, work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal / written communication skills and ability to make presentations to small groups.
- Knowledgeable, active member of the Supply Chain team.
- APICS or other Supply Chain / Logistics Certification encouraged but not required.
